Tend To Yourself Thursday {7/25}: The Value of Simplicity in Healing
I don’t know about you, but it seems the energy this summer season is a bit of a roller coaster. As we pause to tend to ourselves this week, let’s keep it simple. Some of us here are high achieving, intuitive beings who tend toward anxiety, perfectionism, and inner criticism. That means you likely tend to overthink or complicate things with your high attention to detail. When it comes to healing and breaking patterns, it’s more effective to focus on simplicity.
Today I read some simple, nourishing words by psychotherapist Helen Marie that resonated with me. She wrote:
“and sometimes our nervous system just needs:a hug, someone who understands, a moment in nature, a deep soul-nourishing breath, a little space, to take in the glimmers, a giggle with a friend, a good book, a long soak in a warm bath, some gentle words of encouragement, a pause.”
I share this with you because it was just what I need in a season of healing. Most of the time, we don’t need advice, or to be told what to do (even if we think we do). We don’t need to be analyzed, or given re-frames. We don’t always need to make a change, or communicate something hard. We don’t always need a powerful and elaborate ritual or practice.
More often than not, we need nurturing. Something or someone safe, present, and deeply loving. It can be that simple.
What or who is that for you this week?
This is the heart of healing – not always in grand gestures or complex strategies, but in the gentle embrace of understanding. Sometimes, the most healing moments come not from trying to change or fix ourselves, but from allowing ourselves to be seen, understood, and held in our current state.
Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, trauma, perfectionism, relationship challenges, inner criticism, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life’s roller coaster, know that you don’t have to navigate it alone. My lovely team and I are here to offer that safe, nurturing space where you can be met exactly where you are. If you feel called to explore this further, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
With care and warmth,
Elana
