Tend To Yourself Thursday {8/1}: Seeing Life From A Place Of Rested

As August unfolds, nature begins its annual harvest. The fruits of spring and summer’s labor ripen, ready to be gathered. In our inner worlds, a similar process occurs. The personal growth we’ve nurtured through our experiences, challenges, and moments of self-reflection is ready to be recognized.

What seeds of change have you planted this year? What growth have you witnessed in yourself, perhaps so gradual you barely noticed it happening? What seeds might be composted with grace?

A client recently shared (with permission) a beautiful reflection that captures this idea perfectly. She said, “I’m seeing life from a place of rested.” This simple yet profound statement came shortly after she began therapy, as just the act of creating space for herself to address creative obstacles and emotional challenges was enough to spark relief. The support she set up for herself allowed her to release blocks naturally and progress.

Her words remind me of the power of self-care, of being supported, and the importance of acknowledging our progress. Often, we’re so focused on the path ahead that we forget to look back and appreciate how far we’ve come. But it’s in this recognition that we find the strength and motivation to continue growing.

This week, I encourage you to take some time to tend to yourself by harvesting your own insights. Here’s a simple practice to help you do just that:

    The Growth Garden Reflection:

    1. Find a quiet space and take a few deep breaths to center yourself.
    2. Imagine your life as a garden. What have you planted over the past months or year?
    3. Look closely at each “plant” in your garden. These represent different areas of your life – relationships, career, personal development, health, etc.
    4. For each area, ask yourself: How has this grown? What insights have I gained? What fruits am I now able to harvest? What isn’t growing?
    5. Write down your observations. Be specific and celebrate even the smallest growths.
    6. Reflect on how you can use these insights to nurture further growth in your life.

Remember, growth isn’t always linear or visible on the surface. Sometimes, the most significant changes happen in the quiet depths of our being, like roots stretching deeper into the soil.

As always, my team and I are here to support you so you can root, grow, and blossom.

    Warmly,
    Elana

    Let's start working together!
