Tend To Yourself Thursday {6/5} A Calming Reset

June 5, 2025

If you’ve ever wondered, “Why am I still struggling with this?” or “I thought I was past this already,” you’re not alone.

We often expect healing to be a straight line from A to B. We want it to make sense to the mind, to move on a predictable path from pain to peace. It’s natural—we’re wired to seek certainty. But real healing rarely looks like that.

As I often remind my clients, healing is more like an upward spiral. A dance. A wavy line with ebbs, flows, and loops. When you revisit old patterns and emotions, it doesn’t mean you’ve regressed. It means it means you’re deepening your capacity to meet yourself from a new level of awareness, tools, and compassion.

In honor of that, here’s one way to tend to yourself this week, especially if things feel like they’re looping or swirling instead of moving “forward”:

A gentle palming practice. Inspired by yogic eye-care and nervous system regulation techniques, palming is a calming sensory reset especially if you’ve been in front of a screen.

  1. Rub your hands together to create a little heat.
  2. Gently cup your palms over your closed eyes without applying pressure.
  3. Take 3–5 slow breaths here.
  4. Soften through your body, and notice.

When healing feels messy or unclear, this small act of stillness can help you reconnect to the present moment and see the bigger picture. Not to “fix” anything, but to offer presence. And that presence is part of what makes healing possible.

Warmly,
Elana
