Psychotherapy with Michelle
“So often, when we feel lost, adrift in our lives, our first instinct is to look out into the distance… but that shore, that solid ground, is within us. The anchor we are searching for is connection, and it is internal.” Brené Brown
Sometimes it is difficult to know how to move through the waves of life’s challenges. Anxiety, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, perfectionism, and relationship concerns can all disconnect us from staying present to ourselves and grounded in the knowledge that we are not alone. Being open to support is a brave and powerful starting place. Whatever your life experience or transition, I look forward to being your ally as we work to deepen your self-knowledge, self-trust, and self-compassion.
I have been a licensed clinician since 1999, and have worked as a psychotherapist, medical social worker, hospice provider, and trainer of counselors. Through these experiences, I’ve developed a broad set of change strategies, and draw on Internal Family Systems, Mindful Self-Compassion, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Harm Reduction. The tools we might use together depend on your needs and your situation in the moment, and I draw on Trauma-Informed care to create a sense of safety as we move forward.
I’m a grounded, warm, and honest presence, here to support you compassionately while also helping you see yourself and your situation clearly. I identify as a queer woman, a feminist, am gender-affirming, and supportive of racial and social justice.
I’ve worked with adults of all ages, from different backgrounds, and in different phases of life. Every challenge is unique, and deserves to be processed in a safe and supportive space.
If you are reading this, you are already one step closer to getting support. I encourage you to continue along your path of healing, and look forward to connecting with you and supporting you in your journey.
